Don has served his community and his state in the capacities of both a legislator and a jurist. This is important. He well understands the differences between the constitutionally defined roles of legislators and judges. In light of recent events in Carson City wherein our Supreme Court abandoned an amendment to the constitution just recently enacted by the voice of the majority of the people here in Nevada, it is critically important to the citizens of our state that they elect a candidate who understands what a constitution is and why it must be the guiding light of government. Don Ashworth is a strict constitutionalist, which makes him worthy of the trust reposed in him by the people of this state.

Although the office of Supreme Court Justice is politically non-partisan, the voters have a right to know where a candidate stands on issues which are likely to affect the quality of life for the people of Nevada. In recognition of that, here is a brief summary of Don's position on some areas of concern:

  1. Don Ashworth is a strict constitutionalist. He supports the rule of law. He
supports Law Enforcement and looks to the duly sworn officers of the law to
protect and to serve the citizens of the city, county, state and nation within
    their respective agencies.
  2. Don is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and the people's right
    to keep and bear arms.
  3. Don Ashworth is the father of seven children and the grandfather of twenty-
eight. He is pro-life. Don has been married to his wife, Mary Bonelli, for
forty-four years. He believes that marriage is a union between a man and a
    woman.
  4. Don Ashworth supports the United States Supreme Court ruling regarding
pornography and the First Amendment, which is: That the standards of the
community are the chief determiners of what is offensive and without any
"redeeming" virtue. The "community" includes all of the residents who live
here, not just the purveyors of the adult entertainment industry.
  5. Don Ashworth has been on the Board of Directors of the Boulder Dam Area
Council Boy Scouts of America for 30 years. He has been on the Board of
Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Las Vegas. He is sensitive to the needs
of children in our community and is a proven advocate for the well-being of children.
